In this blog post, I'll discuss all the different adjustments that we can do in our office.
First, what is an adjustment?
An adjustment is a high velocity, low amplitude (HVLA) force on a specific spinal segment. It is a quick, specific force on the spine to correct misalignment and spinal movement, and can relieve pressure off nerves.
(Dr. Josh's adjustments are not like this 😂)
Traditional Chiropractic Adjustments:
The first type of adjustment we offer is the traditional chiropractic adjustments that you have either experienced or watched videos on social media. This adjustment is the adjustment that you can sometimes hear the "pop" or "crack". This is by far the most common type of adjustment. There are hundreds of different ways a chiropractor can do adjustments, so if one way doesn't work or you have a preference for a certain type, there is a way to adjust you. There are adjustments for just about every bone/joint in the body from your toes, knee, hip, shoulder, wrist, and fingers. And of course your spine!
Activator Adjustments:
For those who do not like traditional adjustments, there is an instrument called the activator. This tool allows a specific adjustment to an area. It is extremely useful for TMJ issues, wrists, ankles, elderly, and younger children, to list a few!
Drop-Table Adjustments:
A Drop-table adjustment uses a specific piece on the table that "drops" as pressure is applied by Dr. Josh to the affected area. This allows the joint to move in a specific way to restore joint motion. The patient typically does not hear "pop" or "crack", but rather the loud bang of the table. This technique is great for the lumbar, sacral, and pelvis areas (hips).
